Bio


Giovanni Verga was born in Palermo, Italy, in 1976 and earned a master's degree in Art History and Musicology at the University DAMS of Palermo.
He has lived in Berlin since 2011, where he studied  electro-acoustic music at the HFM Hanns Eisler and completed his master's degree under the direction of Wolfgang Heiniger. He is a versatile artist specialized in both performance and composition in the areas of electro-acoustic and acousmatic music.
His vision extends beyond traditional boundaries to include music, soundart,  theater, and contemporary performance.
Throughout his career, Giovanni Verga has participated in various notable projects. His achievements include composition works and collaboration with renowned musicians, artists, and institutions. His music has been performed at festivals such as Kontakt (Germany), Main-Off (Italy), MehrLicht! (Germany), Decibels (Latvia), and various international venues.
Some of his most recent relevant works include the site-specific piece/installation "dies ist die geschichte" in Eberswalde for "Industriekultur in Eberswalde", supported by Kulturland Brandenburg, the site-specific performative piece "durch | glas", created in collaboration with choreographer Nagao Akemi and presented in Berlin at BHROX Bauhaus Reuse, and the piece "Tubolaria" for soprano saxophone and electro-acoustic instrument quartet.
He has created a variety of compositions for theater productions by institutions such as the Stuttgart State Theater, the University of Palermo, and others.
In addition to his artistic activity, he is Professor of Sound Design at the Academy of Fine Arts in Frosinone and at the Academy of Fine Arts of Brera in Milan.
